Investors and the water industry - what does the City have to say?
/In case you missed Water UK's City Conference 2015...
At the start of March, Lodestar were proud to organise Water UK’s annual City Conference for the 15th successive year. There was lots to discuss, debate with the industry moving towards market opening for non-household customers in 2017!
This year over 150 delegates attended our client, Water UK's flagship event. It was a great success, where we created a platform for informed debate amongst key investment and economic stakeholders. Key topics included: long term infrastructure planning in the UK; a focus on customers; resilience; and developing new markets.
Highlights from the day included an industry keynote from Heidi Mottram, CEO at Northumbrian Water. Her presentation considered ‘Placing the customer at the heart of the business but still remaining competitive’. This is an important consideration for many industries - not just the water sector. Heidi spoke and demonstrated this with a great audio clip entitled ‘The most embarrassing customer services call ever.’ Check it out!
We were also delighted that Richard Bartlett, Head of Coverage & Debt Capital Markets, RBS joined the platform. In his presentation Bartlett remarked how the stability and predictability of the sector’s legal and regulatory framework remained its key strength.
Other highlights included two impressive panel sessions which discussed how to align the interests of customers, management and investors as well as the financing of the sector.
The working lunch was carefully planned with a seating plan that saw industry leaders discuss the day’s proceedings. It was a brilliant opportunity to network and share in discussions that would help drive future debate.
We are excited to see what happens next! Book your place at next year's City Conference 2016 on 2 March.
