2012 Construction Commitments
The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games offer a unique opportunity to showcase the very best of Britain. The construction industry expects to make an outstanding contribution that delivers sustainable, exemplary projects with long-term benefits for the local community and the whole country.
Working with board members of the Strategic Forum for Construction, Lodestar developed this industry-wide initiative to ensure projects and developments for 2012 are delivered within a framework of good practice.
Requiring high-level facilitation and advocacy with senior and high-level stakeholders across the construction industry, government and regulators, we secured an agreed and shared “industry” view, the first time that this had been achieved on some areas, particularly relating to issues of procurement. It is expected that the Commitments will be adopted more widely. The Construction Commitments were launched in July 2006 by Tessa Jowell.
