Investing in Infrastructure to be held on 28th September.

17th Aug 2010

Estimates of the level of investment needed in UK infrastructure by 2020 are estimated at up to £400 billion. These vast sums are needed to not only address historic under investment, but to additionally secure the essential transition to a low carbon economy.

Water UK's Investing in Infrastructure conference will create a forum for debate around the funding requirements across all UK economic infrastructure.

The Government recognises that capital spending on essential infrastructure must be maintained if the country is to generate the growth it needs. ‘Investing in Infrastructure 2010’ will bring together thinking from across all utility sectors on where the priorities are, and how the industry can collaborate to ensure appropriate investment vehicles for future infrastructure investment. In the autumn, ministers will publish a national infrastructure plan, which the water industry will be able to discuss within the forum.

Heidi Mottram, Chief Executive Officer of Northumbrian Water will be chairing the event, and key presentations on the day will explore: optimising industry structure to maximise investment in sustainable infrastructure; investor perspectives on infrastructure investment including factors impacting the appeal of different infrastructure classes to financial providers; equity, debt providers' and institutional investors' perspectives; water, energy, transport and telecoms infrastructure sector responses to long term investment challenges.
