Helping the environment
Lodestar recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment at local, national and international levels. Whilst we work in the professional services industry, which does not have the potential impact of other sectors, we acknowledge the cumulative effect of small contributions to the preservation of the environment.
We have been, and continue to be, committed to a high and improving standard of environmental good practice and make every effort to conserve natural resources. Lodestar encourages staff and clients to operate in a sustainable, environmentally aware manner, and we apply our environmental policies to the activities of our office and, where possible, to the activities of our staff when operating off-site and within client projects.
The company applies the principles in a number of ways:
- We are currently working towards carbon neutral projects
- So far as it is within our control, we aim to be efficient in our use of energy within our serviced offices
- We encourage all staff to plan their work around public transport and, where possible to minimise the use of environmentally challenging modes of transport
- We recycle office consumables (such as toner cartridges and mobile phones) wherever possible
- We donate old office computers to charity organisations operating in the developing world, rather than sending them to landfill sites
- We recycle used paper for internal office usage and non client-facing documentation in order to minimise new paper consumption
- We encourage staff to promote good environmental practice to clients
