Giving It Back
Giving it Back is a fundamental principle of Lodestar’s philosophy.
We are committed to giving some time each year to charitable or pro-bono work, sharing business knowledge and expertise in order to help others.
Lodestar actively encourages ‘Giving it Back’ projects within the team where we provide pro-bono advice to charities and social enterprise organisations including St Martin-in-the-Fields, RSA, TackleAfrica, Saudi Cancer Foundation and Design for Good.
St Martin-in-the-Fields
As part of Lodestar's “Giving it Back” programme, Julie Fitzsimmins has been a Non-Executive Marketing Director at St Martin-in-the-Fields for 13 years. During this time and thanks to the wonderful support and commitment of donors, advisors, board members and the St Martin's community, the £36 million capital campaign for the Renewal of St Martin-in-the-Fields has now been completed.
The project has taken 12 years from its inception to successful completion. Half the money was raised from public sources including £15.35 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The other half, comprising gifts from several thousand donors, was raised from a mix of individuals, trusts and businesses. The Rev Nicholas Holtam, vicar of St Martin in the Fields comments on the renewal “St Martin's is grateful for all the generous donations which have enabled us to serve those in greatest need, and enrich people's lives through worship, social care, music and hospitality in spaces fit for the purpose”.
Lodestar is incredibly proud of this project and will continue to support and promote it. For more information about the brilliant work being carried out by the St Martin–in-the-Fields Development Trust please click here
TackleAfrica 2012
Lodestar's Becky Walsh has been the Strategic Marketing Trustee for TackleAfrica since early 2009, a sports development charity that uses football to educate and build awareness of HIV.
Established in 2002, TackleAfrica is run by a voluntary Board of Trustees and small dedicated staff. Active in 6 sub-Saharan countries, TackleAfrica uses football as a coaching tool that communicates directly with young people and local partners to increase their understanding of HIV via a positive and pro-active sports development activity.
TackleAfrica has raised over half a million pounds over the last ten years through their now legendary Football Marathons.
For more information about Football Marathons taking place in 2012 please email Tom Colborne, Head of Fundraising & Development.
